What’s in an athletes’ mind now in present condition varies from person to person based on the surroundings that they grow up in and what the sport means to them. As a mental performance coach, I emphasize the importance of purpose behind why the athlete plays. I say this to even my youngest developing athlete. Once the purpose and vision is established, the livelihood part takes care of itself. The challenge right now for the athlete is He/She is training in a limited setting as there isn’t any competition happening. He is working on his fitness, the mental muscles, skills training etc but in the back of the mind are the following questions:

When are the events going to begin?

When can I express all these attributes? Is it going to happen?

Am I hitting my Prime?

Am I going to be able to enter into tournaments when they begin?

Am I going to be in the team?

If my rankings aren’t there will I be able to enter?

What happens to my contract?

Will I hit my mental form like earlier?

Will there be new restrictions?

How can I differentiate from others who also had the time to recover and pause?

These doubts enter.

This pandemic has opened up a big can of worms. Winning the mental game is not just a wish anymore but an absolute necessity.

Coach Badri

They are willing to throw themselves full on as if there is no choice which is absolutely great as a mental coach. My job is to keep that fire burning consistently even when the situation changes. A crisis can bring about fundamental changes in human consciousness which can be permanent because the old ways of thinking won’t work anymore. This becomes a great opportunity for the player to align their existence, purpose and vision and that is exactly what I work with my players on – tuning the mental muscles to rewire neutrally!

Don’t wait and hope that things will just “get better” on their own. Schedule an appointment today!
